  5. Ethan: 1. Tell me three things about the city of Philippi during Paul's time - you can go on line to find out. 2. If you can find an image of the ancient city, print it out and bring it with you on Sunday. 3. There is a town in the United States named Philippi - can you tell me what state it's in?

  6. 1. It was believed that Paul first preached on European soil in the city of Philippi. 2. The first church described in the city is a small building that was probably originally a small prayer house 3. The prosperity of the city in the 5th and 6th centuries was attributed to Paul and to his ministry.

The state that has the town of Philippi is West Virginia in Barbour County.

(2)Go on-line and find a map of where Galatia was - bring it with you next Sunday (if your Bible has maps in the back - you might find it there!) 16. 1. What is Advent. 2. Why do you think the first Sunday in Advent is also the first Sunday of the new church year? 3. In Advent we will hear two scripture passages - Isaiah 40:3-5 and Isaiah 61. We talked about this when you did your Bible questions. These two passages are talking about 2 different people who we meet in the New Testament - who are they?

  17. Advent is is the time in the church when we prepare the coming of crist and is four weeks before Christmas. It starts with the cycle of Jesus life which is the birth, life, death, and resurrection . The first scripture is talking about John the Baptist and the second talks about Jesus.

  18. Advent is when the church celabrates/prepare for the arrival of Jesus. I think that the church year starts on advent because advent represents the start of something new for the church. John and Jesus are both in the first scripture

    1. I think it means that your faith becomes stronger even when you can't really see what you believe in.

    2. I think it means that if it is always light then you never really strengthen your faith but in the dark that is where things are really tested and it is there that you gain faith.
